my favorite awards show

I love Jimmy Fallon and pretty much everything on TV, so the Emmy's are my all time favorite awards show. This year I thought they were even better then normal, especially the opening. Here are some of my favorite dresses.
{Heidi Klum}

{Anna Paquin}

{Kim Kardashian}

{Jayma Mays}

{Claire Danes}

My favorite was Keri Russell. I have loved her since The Mickey Mouse Club and am so glad she has a new show this Fall.
Dianna Agron and January Jones are 2 of my favorite actresses, but I did not like their dresses. They still looked really pretty, but I don't get it....

us open

My favorite sporting event (besides Olympic swimming) is starting today...the US Open! Not only is the tennis entertaining, but the crowd is pretty and the atmosphere looks fun. I will definitely be watching.

I hope Andy wins this year.

pink houses

So I just moved and my plans were to phase out most of my pink stuff. But I don't know if I can! I love the color and am just going to put a little here and there.

we're moving

My sister (Beth) and I are moving this week which means I am super stressed and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I move a lot, but never get used to it and for some reason it always nearly puts me over the edge. However, I am really excited about our new place!
I'll be back this weekend with new posts.

i would love...

to be in LA right now.

When I was in middle school I loved the Harolds one, I'm sure I would love the Barneys one now.

paperless post

I know everyone does Evites now, but I still like actual invitations so much better. Paperless Post is the perfect combination of the two. You still recieve it via email, but it looks like an actual invitation. It has an envelope with your name on it and opens to a cute invitation, announcement, etc. Plus there are tons of cute prints.

rainbow cupcakes

Rainbow Cupcakes
1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla extract
red, yellow, green and blue food colorings

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 10 cups from a 12 cup muffin tin (or line with paper cups).
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt.
In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, vegetable oil, buttermilk and vanilla extract. Pour in dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Divide batter evenly into 5 small bowls; each should have a little more than 1/3 cup batter (approx 6 tbsp or so for each).
Add about 1/2 tsp food coloring to each bowl to make red, orange, yellow, green and blue batters. Stir well, so no streaks of plain batter remain. Add additional food coloring if necessary.
Starting with the blue batter, add a small spoonful to each of the 10 grease muffin cups (just over 1/2 tbsp in each). Repeat with all remaining colors, working from green to yellow to orange to red, adding each subsequent spoonful on top of the previous color. Do not attempt to spread the layers of color out (as it can cause layers to combined), but allow them to spread on their own.
Bake for about 15 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool cupcakes on a wire rack before frosting.

Makes 10

Quick Buttercream Frosting
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
3 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
approx 3 cups confectioners’ sugar

In a large bowl, beat together butter, milk and vanilla. Gradually add in the confectioners sugar until frosting reaches a thick, spreadable consistency. You will probably use 2 1/2-3 cups. Pipe or spread frosting onto cooled cupcakes.

seafolly

The Australian swimsuit line Seafolly is so cute. Plus I really like Jessica Hart and think the catalouge pictures are really pretty.
